York EMC Services, a subsidiary company of the Eurofins Group, is a leading provider of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electrical safety, radio equipment and electromagnetic fields (EMF) testing and other CE Marking services with a domestic and international customer base, and has four sites in the UK. The company performs accredited testing, technical consultancy, development of innovative EMC test equipment and provides professional Training Courses to Industry.


Electronics Technician | University of York Campus

Applications are invited for the position of Technician to assist in the manufacture of our test instrumentation products.

The successful candidate will have an HNC or equivalent, experience in handling, assembling and inspecting parts and products, from surface-mount components through to finished box-build. All assembly work is carried out under our ISO 9001:2015 DQS, and knowledge of IPC-610x or other related industry-based training would be an advantage. The role will also involve building prototypes, repairing and calibrating products, stock control and workshop maintenance. Good computer skills are essential and a familiarity with RF electronics would be an advantage.

(Senior) Consultant Engineer | University of York Campus

Applications are invited for the positions of Engineer and Senior Engineer to provide consultancy and other services to our broad customer base.

The successful Senior Engineer candidate will have an MSc / MEng / MPhys or equivalent, with 3 years’ experience in the railway industry. They will be looking to continue a career in the regulatory compliance industry, specialising in rail (though not exclusively). The role involves project managing and undertaking consultancy/research projects on behalf of clients in the UK and worldwide. Tasks include preparing compliance management plans/documentation and risk assessments in conjunction with the client and sub-contractors.

The successful Engineer candidate will have a BSc / BEng / MPhys or equivalent. They will be looking to develop a career in the regulatory compliance industry, including rail (though again not exclusively). The role involves undertaking consultancy/research projects on behalf of clients in the UK and worldwide. Tasks include preparing test plans, method statement and risk assessment documentation in conjunction with the client, sub-contractors and other York EMC Services engineers. Progression will be towards Project Management and development of new sectors/services and for the right candidate promotion to Senior Engineer in 3-4 years.

Based in York, there will be regular travel to client meetings in the UK with occasional opportunities to travel abroad on business. There is also the opportunity to contribute to our delivery of training courses.

Previous examples of projects and clients include Network Rail, Crossrail, London Underground, Government agencies, Virgin Media and Doha Metro (Qatar).

The successful candidates will be able to evidence: Excellent personal organisation and time management skills; a demonstrable proactive approach; a track-record of project management and ownership (senior engineer); a willingness to progress in both the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) scheme and to gain Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
