What’s on the programme?

The programme for 2023 has been created to cover the key topics our customers are asking about. The presentations will cover a wide range of product design, compliance and certification, and there will be ample time for you to ask questions, either within each presentation or one-to-one after each session, during lunch or at the end of the day.

1. Product Compliance – what it is, what it’s not and what you need to do (Eurofins E&E)

Understanding which Directives and Legislation apply to your products and their essential requirements should be the first step in ensuring that your product will be compliant. In many cases, it’s the last thing that gets considered, often leading to unexpected costs, delays and the risk that products cannot be CE/UKCA marked and will be deemed non-compliant.

This presentation will cover the essential steps to understanding the critical compliance questions for CE and UKCA marking, how to determine the answers, and what to do before your product reaches the market. We will also cover ongoing compliance so that you can ensure that your products continue to be able to be placed on the market in the future.

2 . Pre-certified radio modules and considerations for integrating them into a product (Wurth Electronics UK)

In this presentation, we will get into understanding the applicable legislation for both CE mark and UKCA mark with regards to radio products. This will also include considerations of integrating a radio module into a product, good design practices for integration and a case study based on the integration of a Setebos module into a product.

3. The Technical File – what it is and why it’s needed (Eurofins E&E)

The Technical File is a critical (and mandatory) part of product compliance, but its purpose is regularly misunderstood, often with incorrect or missing information. It is key to explaining the rationale behind the product’s design and how you have met the essential requirements of the relevant EU Directives and UK Legislation.

In this presentation, we’ll discuss the critical components of the technical file and provide examples of how you can demonstrate that you have met these essential requirements.

4.DC/DC power supply design with EMC in mind

This presentation will look at both discrete and integrated solutions, including MAGI3C modules. We’ll explore the influence of ripple on EMI and how component selection can be critical. There will also be guidance on layout as well as filter selection, as well as how this can be implemented in a low noise power supply design for RF modules.

Time permitting, there will also be practical measurements on a PSU to show the impact of correct filter selection.
